I’m curious Raimund. Your comment about the wingcase (buds) puzzles me. I’ve captured live specimens of numerous species and found that depending on the insect’s stage of development, the wing buds can be 1/4 the body length to slightly longer (close to hatching) than the body.
Have you found that this length makes a difference to your catch rates? Maybe I’ve been missing something by tying my imitations with mid-body length wingbuds ( trying to be “average” between long and short). Thanks for any experiences you can share.
