Hook: 2-8,3 or 4XL
Weight: usually unweighted as the pattern is intended to be drifted into likely holds but a few wraps of lead sub if desired under carapace
Body: any spiky dubbing tapered from hook bend to hook eye. Color to match natural.
Shellback: mottled brown or olive Bug Skin
Rib: mono or strand of pearl crystal flash
Legs: soft webby hackle palmered and fibers pushed down by shellback
Eyes: large mono black.
Pincers: dyed grizzly hackle tips trimmed
Antennae: pearl crystal flash
The Bug Skin shell is extended over the hook eye and trimmed to shape. I tie these in small sizes to represent juvenile craws but there's no reason they can't be tied as large as you like.
