Green red and gold plastic gemstones with a sticky back 315 per pack so that’s 945 for three bucks if I add a black pupil I think they will make decent eyes the other thing is a 4pack of green red gold and silver prism tape type stuff not a lot per roll but 4for a dollar thought I could wrAp it. Around hook shank for a body or something anyone got any other ideas???
Hi Rob. Depending on the width of the prism tape, it makes a great minnow body when folded lengthwise over the hook shank.
Tie in a bit of a tail (marabou works well). and lash the fibers of the feather down on the hook shankCut a section about 3/4 the length of the hook
Sorry Rob, hit post by mistake before finishing.
Tie in the marabou above the hook point and use your tying thread to lash down the remainder of the feather fibers along the hook shank stopping two hook eye lengths behind the eye. Cut a length of the prism tape long enough to cover the lashings and fold the tape over the hook shank glue side to glue side. Trim the folded-over tape to a minnow shape (roughly an elongated oval). Tie in a long fibered wooly bugger hackle and make several turns forward towards the eye. Tie off and build a neat thread head.
I’m assuming the tape is water proof but if it isn’t, coat one of the insides with super glue before folding the tape over the hook shank. If you have added the black pupils to your gemstones, you can add them to the sides of your minnow. Weighting is of course optional and should obviously be done before folding the tape over the shank.
Hope this makes sense. Post one if you give it a try. I think you can let your imagination run wild with color combinations but I seem to have the best success with gold tape and black hackle followed by silver tape and olive hackle.
