A quick and dirty first attempt to Jason Page’s spider challenge. Not much in the way of materials. Long shank hook, brown thread, foam body parts, chenille legs, bead chain eyes.

Leg joints are just a heated tweezer treatment on the chenille. Had to sew the bead chain on through the front foam body part.

Funny, all I can picture now is Bill with needle and thread sewing eyes on this thing like a seamstress! What we don’t do when a guy lays down a challenge to another guy!!! Lol! 😂

@the fly guy John, you should enjoy the tying and never get caught up in the competition. I learn from everyone here and never judge anyone else’s work. I’m still of the opinion that only the fish should judge. Keep on tying and posting.

I would agree with Bill

I have to crack a joke once in a while just to make sure we don’t take ourselves too seriously. However, Geoff, I agree! There are many very beautiful flies tied by very artistic people on this app. I study many of their patterns and I am constantly picking up new methods and learning about new materials. I am a teacher and coach so I am a big believer in the saying, that we never stop learning. That said, keep tying and keep posting! I guarantee people will take something from your methods and styles, probably me! 😂

@Stonefly18 I have seen some of your flies, and for a beginner you are very good. I myself say to people all the time that your skills doesnt evaluate if you are a beginner or not. It is the time and experience. I am still not an experienced tier. Keep tying and you will get better. The same as listening to the advice you get.

Bill so far this has been the closest size/color match I’ve seen to my giant creepy crawler. Great job to everyone who did the challenge
