Would like to know what subs you used Craig? I’m always fascinated by this pattern and your’s is just lovely.
My curiosity is especially focused on the wing materials. Can you tell me what the “original” pattern materials refer to when they call for “bustard” and then call again for florican (another bustard I thought). Two species called for here????
@trublubug well bill, full jock scott the materials are vast, expensive in uk and quite hard to get, so improvise, overcome and adapt is the order to get a jock scott in my Tying room. Hen neck dyed yellow subs for toucan. Small hen badger for Indian crow.
Wing, speckled bustard I left out and another species florican bustard it’s tan colour with black mottled markings, I have both but the slips are to short to get in the jock, I used golden Pheasant Center tail to top the turkey bars and left out the Argus Pheasant also.
When I get my materials topped up and I’ll give this a proper try..
