I know we don’t fish the same waters Kenan, but I fish them in my secret pockets for similarly picky fish. This is a very productive pattern for me.
If you have access to silicon strands (as found in bass lure skirts), try substituting a strand as a body material instead of the quill. It makes a “chewy” fly that I believe the trout hold on to a bit longer before deciding it’s not the real thing.
Sharing another little trick for making the silicon look more segmented like the quills appear, you can mark one edge of the strand with a dark colored permanent marker.
Of course, your strike reflex has likely not slowed as mine has with age LOL.
