Hey Bill, thanks I appreciate it! I have tied this pattern both ways however I like them separate better to ad more action to the fly. I tie a mono loop in between the two strips to keep from wrapping around the shank.
Thanks for the mono loop tip Gavin. I've tried using several tiny dots of superglue along the leather side of the rabbit. Just a few dots (not the whole strip) along the lengths to just join them, not glue them together. Helps keep the shank wrapping issue down to a minimum and leaves the strips relatively flexible so the action isn't impeded.
