Just rabbit zonkers and crosscut rabbit. A little red flash and a 3/16 oz. tungsten bead. 1/0 hook. Big Smallmouth, maybe a pike or two. Either way, a large Leech.

This is a great pattern for me Jon. I tie it as you have and find the addition of the red flash really does make a difference. It also works well for me in olive, again with the red flash added. Where do you have the most success with yours? I find that the pattern works in both streams and lakes.

I’ve often subbed a black cone for the round bead. I seem to hang up less with the cone under certain conditions. Any similar experiences?

I agree on all accounts Bill. I simply love this pattern and it’s movement in the water. The red flash adds to it I believe, with better results. It probably doesn’t make the difference every day, but I believe most for sure. I use a smaller version in streams for trout and this Chernobyl version in lakes and larger warm water rivers for bass, pike and muskies.
