Another grand looking shrimp pattern Patrik !!!!
You have posted a goodly number of shrimp patterns here (all of which cause me to turn into a “green-eyed” monster with envy for your skills). I’m wondering if you have a favorite “go to” shrimp pattern that always gets tied on first?
@trublubug Thank You🤗🙏🙏🙏 I must admit, that I love flytying and testing new patterns and materials. I use to say that more important than the fly itself is the where to fish, when to fish and how to fish. All patterns catch fish. Many of them came to life cause of the challenge itself. BUT the Laser Shrimp is definitely my go to Shrimp. The SpeyShrimp I posted today is awesome aswell - has all needed for being a good fishing fly - right materials, movement and a fast tie. Last but not least the Vaskebjörn - a ”provocationfly” that can be a shrimp and everything else😃👍
You can’t fool me Patrik. I just searched the data base here for your Laser Shrimp and you named it as a “final” variant. Knowing your fondness for trying new materials, I must assume that you didn’t really mean that post was your “final” effort. Perhaps you just meant to add in parenthesis “until the next time”. LOL LOL LOL. Thanks for the reply. I always look forward to your latest creation. You and I are very kindred spirits (and totally addicted to our tying).
On a second note, I also agree with your philosophy about what is “important”. I too believe that the fly is not the most critical criteria to being successful on the stream. Bet you have seen plenty of examples of the “perfect” fly being totally ignored due to a poor presentation (the how), the wrong location (the where) and the wrong timing (the when). Of course I refer to your observations of others since you and I never make these silly mistakes ourselves. (Yeah, sure, HaHaHa)
@trublubug Well Bill - the Laser Shrimp is surely not my final creation, but when it comes to fishingfly it has all a fly needs for catching searuns - ANd it’s a really fast and cheap tie👍
Yes, it seems that we’re very kindred spirits - I like that😃👍 Flytying for me is more than tying a fly, that catches the fish - it’s a kind of recreation. A way to be creative and calm down. Then, we want to inspire other flytiers, as they inspire us by using new materials and create new patterns. Maybe there will be the one fly that suits a special circumstance better than an other🤷🏼♂️ However - Thank You for Your kind words and it’s really inspiring to talk shop with You🙏🙏🙏
